Kuala Lumpur, Thursday – Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) and Lazada Express (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (LAZADA) today signed a Memorandum Of Collaboration (MOC) to formalise the collaboration on the development of an e-Commerce Regional Distribution Centre (e-Commerce RDC) located in Sepang, Selangor.

The MOC was signed by Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh and Hans-Peter Ressel, Lazada Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer.  The signing ceremony took place at the Dewan Sri Pos, Dayabumi and was witnessed by Pos Malaysia’s Chairman, YBhg. Brig. Jen. (K) Dato’ Sri Dr. Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil and Lazada Malaysia’s Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Lee Fong Siang.

“The e-Commerce RDC is a significant part of Pos Malaysia’s journey into the region and is an affirmation of our long-standing strategy to be an end-to-end Integrated Logistics Provider (ILS), which will be a part of our growth trajectory in the e-Commerce segment.  The e-Commerce RDC act as a one-stop centre by providing value-added services such as air-sea-land transportation solutions, international transhipment, postal and courier services, bill payments and warehousing facilities, among others,” said Dato’ Mohd Shukrie to the media after the event, today.

“In line with the government’s launch of the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ), the MOC reflects heightened collaboration between Pos Malaysia & Lazada Malaysia in developing the e-Commerce RDC, positioning Malaysia as a key sourcing and fulfillment hub. We are excited to embark on this strategic partnership with Pos Malaysia and we look forward to making it easier for Malaysian SMEs to participate in regional and global trade and consumers benefitting from faster and cheaper deliveries, in addition to having access to a wider range of products,” said Hans-Peter Ressel, CEO of Lazada Malaysia.

Dato Mohd Shukrie added that Pos Malaysia is fully committed and will amplify its efforts to become a full-fledged e-Commerce and Logistics provider in the marketplace, and he and his team will continue to put in place the building blocks to help them achieve this ambition and secure Pos Malaysia’s sustainable growth for the long-term.

“The collaboration with LAZADA is timely, as they are a business entity which has a strong e-Commerce marketplace shopping platform, as well as a vast list of clientele in Southeast Asia.  I believe this strategic partnership will benefit both as it leverages the power of the internet to establish the presence and conduct businesses via local and global marketplaces,” he added.

Concurrently, the MOC will also serve as a platform for Pos Malaysia and LAZADA to exchange information that is deemed beneficial to both parties in paving ways to enhance its postal products, services and activities globally.
